Opened in January of 2001, the 300-room Sheraton Convention Hotel will serve as the headquarter hotel for the soon to be expanded Baton Rouge Convention Center. The project, owned by Argosy Gaming Co., will also anchor the north end of Argosy's Catfish Town Entertainment Complex located at the Mississippi River adjacent to the convention center. The hotel lobby will connect to the Catfish Town Atrium offering many amenities under a 50,000 sq.ft. conditioned glass enclosure. Some of the hotel's other amenities will be located in the historically significant buildings of Catfish Town. The building's entry facade is designed to respect the historical character of the one-and-two story warehouses of the Catfish Town district.
