Professional Experience:
As Partner-in-Charge of Design, Mr. Gilbert oversees and coordinates a design staff which has been involved in the programming, schematic design, and design development of a large variety of commissions. His project experiences include single-family residences, small and midsize office buildings, interior architecture and space planning, major corporate and governmental department offices, multi-use professional, medical, religious, and hospitality complexes, as well as entire community developments for foreign governments. On many of these projects, he has met with clients during the earliest stages and worked closely with them to formulate, develop, and implement master plans which will not be fully realized for decades to come. He has often worked with committees, community groups, and project teams in participatory designs, developing cooperative design solutions. Projects he has worked on have been located throughout the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, and other foreign countries.

Mr. Gilbert continues his education in architectural design by frequently attending seminars, conferences, and graduate education programs offered in his field; a partial list includes the National Symposium on Health Care Design, the National Trust of Historic Preservation Design Conference, and the Harvard Graduate School of Design Summer Program. In addition, he often takes part in design juries for Louisiana State University's College of Design.

The most notable projects on which Mr. Gilbert has worked include The Bluffs on Thompson Creek (in the field of residential and community development), located near St. Francisville, Louisiana, and the master plan study for the Mid City Redevelopment District in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In the area of health care projects, there is the Oncology Center for the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, the Louisiana War Veterans Home, the Claude B. Pennington Biomedical Research Center (where he was a part of the design team), and the strategic master plan for the Mid City Medical District for the Baton Rouge Medical Center. Corporate commissions include work for Proctor and Gamble, The Webb Companies, Union National Life Insurance Company, and Cajun Contractors. The latter two commissions were awarded through design competitions. His work in the field of hospitality design includes the Aruba Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino, the Quality Suites Hotel in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the Guest Lodge at The Bluffs on Thompson Creek, as well as Renovations to Catfish Town, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for Argosy Gaming Company of Alton, Illinois. This is only a partial list to illustrate that with his experience, Mr. Gilbert brings an added dimension of efficiency, effectiveness, and creativity to any project--no matter what the situation, location, or budget.
