Upon graduation from college, Mr. Songy joined Harwood K. In 1983, he returned to Baton Rouge and joined the staff of Robert M. Coleman Architects. In January, 1990, Mr. Songy became a partner in Robert M. Coleman and Partners, Architects, AIA, where he has been actively involved in projects throughout the United States and the Caribbean.

As partner, Mr. Songy's primary responsibilities include coordination and preparation of construction documents for all projects. His involvement in projects begins during the design development stage and continues through construction administration. His experience on national and international work ranges from small tenant lease spaces to multiuse complexes. By incorporating his knowledge of building construction and life safety codes in all projects, RMC&P is able to provide clients with quality projects.

Mr. Songy's experience includes his participation and implementation of a master plan for Our Lady of Mercy School. This $2,500,000 project labeled by the parish, "Preparing for the New Millennium," included a new library media center, computer lab, science lab, classrooms, cafetorium, and renovations to existing facilities. The project was completed in September of 1996.

In March of 1996, Mr. Songy began preliminary master planning for St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church. The master planning goals for the parish included a new Parish Activity Center, additional church administration offices, a school cafeteria, library media center, computer room, and classroom facility for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students. Phase One of the Master Plan, the school cafetorium, has been built and efforts continue to finalize the master plan.

At present, Mr. Songy is involved with the implementation of Phase One of the master plan for Redemptorist Diocesan Catholic High School. The library/science lab building construction will begin in February of 1998. Mr. Songy was involved in fund-raising and making presentations at team meetings, school board meetings, and development committee meetings. His involvement with the fund-raising coordinator allowed for the coordination of the design and phasing of the project with the monies raised.

Along with his responsibilities at RMC&P, Mr. Songy has been a school board member and past executive board and finance committee member at a local parochial school. He also serves as coach for numerous children's sports. He has served as guest juror at Louisiana State University, School of Architecture, and continues to be involved with the local chapter of the American Institute of Architects, including the "Architecture in Elementary Schools" program.
